Our New Council

With Christmas just around the corner and the New Year upon us, it would only be fitting for us as a new Council to offer our best wishes for a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

We, as a council, are trying to settle into our new positions.  Taking on the affairs of the Town is, to say the least, a challenging and exciting experience.  There are knowledgeable people on our Council who are eager and willing to help.  Between new and fresh approaches coupled with previous Council experience, it is agreed by all that we must work together to ensure a well run town.

Ideas, suggestions and support from the community is needed to help us be aware of the many things that go on in our Town, whether it be good or bad. It is through the people that we get the information to be able to deal with every situation that we may come across.  We encourage residents to be volunteers of our community organizations, to speak out when something is wrong, to offer a helping hand when the need arises no matter what the situation may be.  It is through active participation of the people that we can accomplish that which we were voted for.

In this season of goodwill and peace towards family and friends, let us ever be mindful of those who are less fortunate and perhaps through some word or deed we as individuals can extend a helping hand or a cheerful word of encouragement to those in need.

May the Hope, Joy and Peace of this Christmas Season be with you and yours throughout the coming year.

Faithfully Yours,

Council and Staff of the Town of Pouch Cove

Public Works

We would like to remind people at this time with the winter season upon us that residents are encouraged to Adopt a Fire Hydrant.  We encourage residents who reside next to a Fire Hydrant to remove the snow in front of and around the Fire Hydrant to ensure that in an emergency situation the fire department have access to all Fire Hydrants through the Town.

We would also like to take this time to remind residents that no snow is permitted to be pushed or ploughed into the streets due to the Town’s By-laws (available online) , which are currently in place. Residents are encouraged to clearly mark their driveways, lawns or trees with markers during the winter season to help protect their private property during snow clearing.

Volunteer Fire Department

The past year has been a busy year for the Department; we currently have 26 members and have responded to 28 calls since January 1st. Our fundraising events have been a huge success this year and we hope to continue to count on your support for future events. Although the department only does two recycling drives a year, Tom Butt is the year-round recycling coordinator. If you have any recyclables to donate to the department please do not hesitate to contact the Town.
